Trial for Believer

Everybody faces trial:
Hazrat Anas (R.A) narrates
that Holy Prophet (S.A.W) said, ”When Allah intends well being for His
worshipper, He punishes him in this world early and when Allah intends evil for
his worshipper, He blocks him in his sins. It means He does not punish him
until He will reward him fully on the Day of Judgement.” (Tirmizi Shareef: 2/65
Baab Fil Sabr Alal Bala printed by H. M. Saeed)
And Holy Prophet (S.A.W)
said: “The excess of reward is related to troubles and said when Allah loves
some nation, He makes them suffer from some trouble and whoever stays agreed,
is granted with the consent of Allah and whoever is annoyed, there is Allah’s
stance for him.” (Tirmizi: Hadith number 2398 Faizul Qadeer: 1/258 Riazul
Saliheen: P 41 printed Maktaba Hakeemul Ummat)
It seems we have been given
three lessons in this Hadith: First lesson given to us is that Allah created
world and hereafter, both are made by Allah but my friends! The difference
between the world and the hereafter is that there will be no trouble for anyone
in the Hereafter except for unbeliever and sinners who will go to the Hell. And
except these, those who are believers will go to the Paradise. The will never
even see what trouble is and will never know about it. Unlike this the world has
been created by Allah and there is no such man, saint or prophet who has not
faced trouble.
Troubles are the Atonement of Sins:
Now my friends! When pious
people face troubles they think that Allah has treated me in this way in order
to cleanse me of my sins. May should understand his sins that it is due to my
sins, I am a sinner and Allah is giving me troubles in the world due to my
sins. Now man should seek forgiveness from Allah (Astaghfar) and pray that, O
Allah, These troubles have come to me due to my sins, therefore forgive me, and
when he will adopt this way, Inshallah there will be only well being for him.
There will be no evil for him and all of his sins will be forgiven and when
time of death will approach, he will go through it as he had been born of his
mother’s womb. He will be so neat and clean that Inshallah he will benefit from
the blessings of Paradise as soon as he dies.
Respected friends! It is
rather dangerous that troubles are less. I said troubles are faced by everyone.
But infidels and hypocrites who have less relation with Allah face less trouble.
Allah gives them their time. Years pass and they face neither any sickness nor
any trouble. And if they face any, it is gone early. Instead Allah opens such
doors for them. So if it is the case that there are fewer troubles from Allah
and man is increasing in Allah’s disobedience, it is very dangerous. It implies
that Allah intends to punish him fully in the Hereafter and wants to grab him
well in Hereafter. He will not spare him and make him fuel of the Hell.
Therefore my friends! Whenever there are troubles from Allah, seek forgiveness
from Allah of your sins, Make repentance and Astaghfar and get worried if there
are no troubles.
One must Seek Forgiveness on one’s Sins:
The scholars have usually
marked the name of Pharoah as Waleed and he was 640 years old. He got so much
time from Allah that in 640 years, he never even had a headache. Where will the
pride and vanity lead to such a man? How much esteem will he give to himself?
You may decide yourself. That is why he said about himself, (Ana Rabbukum al
Aala) “I am the Supreme god. I am the lord of everyone”. It means he claimed of
being god. It implies that having no trouble makes man maniac that Allah forbid
I am the best, I am the supreme one and Allah forbid this thought takes him
even to the claim of being god.
Therefore it is good sign to
have troubles. It is not a good sign to have no troubles at all. But one
seeking forgiveness from Allah on his sins when troubles come is much better. But
not seeking forgiveness from Allah on sins after troubles come is not a good
sign, my friends. This man is not doing something good by not seeking
forgiveness of his sins from his Lord.
We witness some people that
on facing trouble say Allah forbid, “What such sin did we commit that we have
to face this trouble?” It means they think themselves very neat and clean and
no sin can be committed by them. And that is why they don’t know what sin they
have committed? They make such remarks. Yet one can find himself indulging in
so many sins in 24 hours and he does not even feel that he is committing a sin
and then says, “I don’t know what wrong I have done?”
Heart makes one feel Sin:
Allah has blessed man with
such a heart, pious people and Holy Prophet (S.A.W) remark that first of all it
is man’s heart that tells him what sin he has committed. Whenever somebody
commits a sin, immediately there comes a feel in his heart that I have made a
mistake (Alaa Summa Maa Haaka Fee Sadrik) (Musim: 2/315 Baab tafseer al barr
wal ism). It is another thing if someone’s heart is dead and there is no feel
in his heart. Allah does create a feel in those hearts that are alive. You can
make an experiment and see that you will feel restless after committing a sin.
Therefore if man immediately asks for forgiveness from Allah saying, “O Allah!I
committed a sin, forgive me”, it creates a peace in the disposition. Both peace
and restlessness are the dispositions of heart through which it warns one about
virtue or sin. My friends! A man does so many sins that he cannot even imagine.
Therefore when man commits sin, troubles, problems and ailments from Allah
strike him and when these troubles and problems are faced, one should ask for
forgiveness that, “O Allah! You are purifying my through putting my in worldly
troubles and I expect from Your Rehmat in the Hereafter that you will bless me
with Paradise. It means man should console his heart hoping Allah’s Rehmat and
utter this from his tongue. In sha Allah! It will bring benefit. Man will endure
troubles with ease. In other case man cannot endure troubles easily. He makes
various remarks. Whenever he meets someone, he only repeats, ”This trouble,
that trouble”. It does not reduce troubles rather increases them. The only way
to reduce trouble is Astaghfar.
Troubles increase one in
Ranks:
My friends! Prophet of Allah
told that whenever Allah intends well being for someone, He keeps him suffering
from various worldly troubles and whenever He intends evil for someone, He
reduces his worldly troubles until the full justice is left for the Hereafter.
When they will be resurrected, they will be asked there. Man has excess of
wealth, shower of blessings and comforting all sorts of conveniences and not
having any troubles is not a good sign. Man should continually seek forgiveness
of his sins from Allah that, “O Allah! I am not having any trouble nor sickness
lest it should not be so that you intend to punish me in the Hereafter.
Therefore O Allah! Please forgive me”.
The second thing was told
that the more are the troubles the more is the reward in the Hereafter. The
hadith tells us so much that Holy Prophet (S.A.W) said that on doomsday those
people will be brought who faced problems and troubles in the world. Then the
rewards will be started from Allah that they got this for some trouble and that
for that trouble. He will get so much that he will say, “I wish my whole body
would have been cut with scissors in the world and I got all that today which
Allah is giving.” (Tirmizi: 2/66 Abwab ulZuhad)
Therefore, it was said the
more are the troubles the more will be the ranks, the more increasing will be
the reward with Allah.
It tells that everyone can
commit sins. If someone says that he is not a sinner and neat and clean and
even then he is facing troubles from Allah, it implies that his ranks are being
increased. But this is only for the prophets. Prophets do not have sins and
their ranks keep on increasing. But for people like us, it is sufficient for us
that only if our sins are forgiven. This is great blessing for us.
It must come what Allah has destined:
The third thing that Holy
Prophet (S.A.W) told is that it must come what is destined. If Allah has
destined troubles for us, they must come to us. If sickness, it must too and
same is for all other circumstances. The well being for a man is being willing
to accept the decision of Allah that ,”O Allah! I submit to your decision.” It
was said if he will submit to the consent of Allah, he will be blessed by the
Consent of Allah and if he does not submit to the decisions of Allah, he will
be cursed with the angriness of Allah”.
Tirmizi: 2/6 Abwab ul Qadr)
What Allah has destined,
must come. This is another fact that man is frail and forgets at the time. He
does not attend to them. But if man makes effort with the intention and
ambition of heart, remember it again and again and think on it that Allah has
destined this trouble for me; therefore it was supposed to come to me.
Therefore O Allah! I submit to your consent in this condition yet I am frail
and cannot tolerate it. Unless you don’t change it, I agree with your decision.
O Allah! Please change it and decide well being for e.
O Allah! Frail we are:
Our elder Hazrat Haji Imdad
Ullah Mahajir Makki (R.A), it is famous that once he was stating that there is
well being in each decision of Allah. Therefore one must agree to the decision
of Allah. Now Hazrat also said that whenever ailment comes and there is well
being in it. It forgives the sins of man. Allah makes man neat and clean, bless
him with Paradise. He was stating these meanwhile a person came shouting and
crying and said, “Hazrat! I am having intense headache, I am dying. My head is
going to burst. Pray to Allah for removing this headache. Now the people
sitting around Hazrat started thinking that just now Hazrat was stating that
there is well being in each decision of Allah. Now what will he do if that
person is having such an intense headache? Hazrat made a prayer at the very
moment that O Allah! This sickness contains well being. It causes forgiveness
of man’s sins. Therefore, there is well being in it but O Allah! We are frail;
we cannot tolerate this well being and blessing. Please replace this blessing
of sickness with the blessing of health.
In a way, he delivered both
the rights. If it is trouble, it is blessing of Allah. It is a well being for a
believer. But usually a believer does not tolerate it. Therefore make this
prayer to Allah that O Allah! It is surely a thing for our well being yet do
not put so much trouble on us, so much problem on us that we could not
tolerate.
Saints of Allah teach us Moderation:
My friends! These saints of
Allah teach us moderation. If both the hadiths are put before us, we cannot
even follow them. It is the task done by the saints of Allah. They teach us
such a lesson in everything that The Sacred Law (Shariat) is also satisfied and
relation to Allah also remains connected. Therefore this is another way of
making relation to Allah for a believer that whatever be the troubles, he
should deem that these have been destined to me by Allah. Nothing could go
against them. Whatever effort I could make, these were supposed to come. But O
Allah! Do not put these troubles to so much an extent on us that we could not
endure them. We are frail. Replace them with good condition.
The pious people say that
whenever any relative or acquaintance of man is sick, and he was taken to some
high caliber doctor. But he could not survive. Now they say that they should
have done this or that, should have taken to that doctor and so on. This person
consoles his heart. But do remember how much great caliber doctor a man seeks
he cannot change that is destined by Allah. What Allah has destined, must come.
Whatever effort we make, only that happens that Allah has destined. Therefore,
many times it was seen that we take patient to very high caliber doctors and
they immediately say after checking that he cannot be treated. Take it to home.
Serve him well and make prayer for him. Only prayer can save him and not us. It
tells that no matter how great is the doctor of the world, he cannot change
Allah’s decision. Through asking for the prayer, he is also pointing to the
fact that we are frail, we are unable. Only Allah is the doer of everything.
All the authorities are for Allah. Therefore if this belief comes in us In Sha
Allah! Our relation to Allah will keep on increasing. Allah may grant us His
relation and make us act upon the lesson that has been delivered in this
hadith. (Ameen)
